Water demands

As it is clear from Table irrigated agriculture used in 1990 the almost 92% of total water demands in the Amudarya river basin. After independence agricultural water use dropped significantly, but there were increased water uses in other sectors of economy (domestic and industrial). It is foreseeing in future, that irrigated agriculture will decrease to 87% of total water use. Domestic consumption will increase by 1.9 times, industrial consumption by 1.3 times, and fishery by 1.9 times. Table presents the actual water use by different states and sectors of economy and prospective (2010) water requirements.
