The Water Information System for Europe
– or more commonly known as WISE – is your gateway to information on European water issues.
It compiles a number of data and information collected at EU level by various institutions and bodies.
DATA & THEMES
The WISE viewer - a central water data webportal
The WISE viewer is a central location where geographically-mapped information on water-related issues can be found for the whole of Europe. This includes data on water quality and soon on water quantity, and information on implementation of EU water legislation.
The viewer provides thematic data on zoomable maps, thus helping to visualise particular issues with a European or more local perspective. Go to 'Water live maps' to find the WISE viewer.
The 'themes and data' section is maintained and updated by the European Environment Agency (EEA).

POLICY
Water policy in the European Union !
The policy pages provide users with detailed information on water-related policies and EU legislation. This includes details on various EU water Directives and implementation and supporting activities and documents that are useful to Member States in reaching their objectives. The 'policy' section is maintained and updated by the European Commission's Environment Directorate-General.

PROJECTS
WISE RTD – Central portal for water related research and projects
A large number of water research projects have been carried out over the past decades and experience is gained with the implementation of water related projects. The outcome of many such projects at European, national and international level can be very useful for the implementation of water related policies and projects. WISE-RTD gives easy access to this information linked to the WFD implementation tasks.
The WISE-RTD Web Portal is hosted by the WISE-RTD Association. Neither the European Commission nor the EEA are responsible for the project contents found in WISE-RTD.
