Description
The project will promote the consolidation of a model of governance for the Integrated Management of Coastal Zone (ICM) in Uruguay. To do so will encourage a model of participatory and adaptive management, based on scientific research and training institutions and local actors to make use of knowledge in the design and implementation of policies and actions. Moreover it will promote support to government actors and civil society in the generation and use of knowledge as instruments of decision-making process on coastal management. The 2006-2009 phase will facilitate the incorporation of new institutions at in the best direction and execution of the program. It also will involve national and international external partners in the search for creative and practical solutions. Throughtout, the project will undertake actions that promote sustainable use of natural resources and environmental protection.
