Description
Summary: The construction, a more consolidated dam to control runoff to raise the groundwater level for better food wells, is (done) to achieve an expansion of gardening activities against the season, the revenue growth of women and the protection of the environment by reducing logging in favor of market gardening and arboriculture in the village of Tinkélé.
Project data: The lack of water made the living conditions of local populations on their traditional land difficult, often forcing them to devastating actions for their ecosystem: the sale of timber and coal. Given the widespread water scarcity, the members of the Village Association for the Protection of Forest Resources Tinkélé sought the assistance of the NGO SURVIVAL IN THE SAHEL to carry out the construction of a large capacity dam filter. Thus following a study on the project site, this type of development with the following composition was proposed: a foundation: 1.5 m depth, a central anchor/core??: 2 meters wide , 5 meters long and 2.5 meters high, a raft upstream: 5 meters from the foot of the central ink/anchor with 0.80 meters thick, and a width of 5 meters + gradients between the side walls, a raft downstream: 5 meters from the foot of the central anchor with 0.80 meters thickness, and a width of 5 meters + gradients between the side walls.
Specific objectives: - Building a high-capacity dam filter; - Increase the income of people, specifically women

Lessons for Replication
The presence of water ensures an increase in woody and herbaceous biomass resulting in elevated amounts of greenhouse gases sequestered, creating a micro climate favourable to business recovery and conservation.
