Description
The project will lay the infrastructure that is needed to bring the water (from the Israeli side) to the Palestinian side in Jenin District. This will be achieved through the development of detailed designs for the project; construction of a main water pipeline; a booster station and 1600 CM water reservoir, including procurement of 3 boosters; as well as maintenance of the old network including installations of house water connections. The project beneficiaries are a total population of 47,889 who are the residents of Zbuba and its 10 surrounding villages.
The overall objective of the project is to provide sustainable reliable water supply to the 47,889 residents of Zbuba and its 10 surrounding villages in the North West of Jenin where currently there is no available water source.
- Target project outputs
- The availability of water per capita, for 47889 residents, will rise reaching to 100-110 L/Capita/Day.
- The quality of water supply for around 7367 households is improved;
- The overall well being of the beneficiaries, is improved and particularly their health status.
- The health status of the Palestinian residents of the beneficiaries residents will be improved as a result of improved water quality;
- The potential development of the whole area of including other sectors such as agriculture and industry, will be improved substantially.
- The economic situation of the beneficiaries is improved due to generation of employment; Over 10,8033 employment days will be generated for unemployed workers in the West Bank. This figure is calculated based on 15% labor content and an estimated average labor-day wage of US$ 18 (non skilled-skilled labor)
- The socio-economic conditions of the targeted beneficiaries will improve as a result of improved water prices. (municipal water supply tariff.
