Description

The project will be implemented in the Mediterranean, the National Marine Park of Al Hoceima, which was officially declared on 8 October 2004. This is the first National Park with a marine area. It is located west of the city of Al Hoceima in a massive limestone and 48,000 ha along forty miles of coastline. It is characterized by the existence of a large marine biodiversity threatened by illegal fishing within the park (dynamite, illegal trawling, longline industry), by coastal pollution and forecasts of strong growth in tourist activity the coming years. From the land side there is a large bird, plus a wealth herpetologist. The project directly affects a population of about 652 fishermen households and indirectly 1000 households living solely through fishing and agriculture in mostly inaccessible villages located on the front abrupt PN Al Hoceima-wide d ' about 40 Km, "Mestassa; Cala-Iris; Bades; Tikki; Boumaksoud; Thara Youssef, and the port of Al Hoceima.


This project aims to involve local people and especially the artisanal fishermen in the conservation of biodiversity Marine National Park through the improvement and diversification of the income of fishermen and their involvement in participatory management of marine resources park .
