Global River Discharge Database

The Global River Discharge Database website contains a compilation of monthly mean river discharge data for over 3500 sites worldwide.

The data sources are RivDis2.0, the United States Geological Survey, Brazilian National Department of Water and Electrical Energy, and HYDAT-Environment Canada.

The period of record for each station is variable, from 3 years to greater than 100. All data is in m3/s.

About the Global River Discharge Database

The Database is maintained by the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment (SAGE), which is housed within the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Nelson Institute, and is supported by government research grants, corporate gifts, and private funds.

SAGE examines the linkages between natural resources, human health and security, and changes in the global environment. Its staff and students conduct cutting-edge research on these critical problems, and disseminate that knowledge through innovative teaching and outreach at the of Wisconsin-Madison.
