Description/Definition | Any organization that is not governmental or affiliated with the government, but more generally referring to the many independent organizations in civil society with interest in environment and development activities. NGOs are directly engaged in developing and implementing GEF-supported projects, participating in planning, commenting on project draft, and coordinating or implementing specific aspects of projects, such as in the Small Grants Programme. |
