- Joint Bodies
Plenipotentiaries are appointed to facilitate implementation of the Agreement between Belarus and Ukraine of 2001.
The joint Russian Federation-Belarus Commission acts in accordance with the Agreement of 2002.
- Major challenges and perspectives for cooperation
The Russian Federation-Belarus Commission agreed on the Regulations for its working groups. The Commission adopts work plans for working groups. It has developed an effective programme for joint monitoring of transboundary sections of the Dnieper/Dnipro.
A stakeholder analysis was made within the framework of the UNDP-GEF Dnipro Basin Environment Programme. There is a need to improve mechanisms of public participation in the activities of joint bodies in the basin.
A new intergovernmental agreement between Belarus, Russia and Ukraine on Cooperation in the Field of Management and Protection in the Dnieper/Dnipro River Basin was developed within the framework of the UNDP-GEF Dnipro Basin Environment Programme (http://www.dnipro-gef.net). The draft is going through procedures for approval in the countries. The draft provides for the establishment of a joint commission.
