Description

The overall objective of the project is, to establish access to drinking water for the population of two villages and to promote hygiene and sanitation by building latrines in the two villages.

Planned activities: -Organization of a meeting of participatory exchange for the selection of well sites; Sinking of six (06) wells; Campaigning for disinfecting wells for drinking water in winter; Construction of 30 latrines on the level made in the concessions; Organization of a day for advocacy for the active involvement of local authorities, resource persons, vulnerable persons (children and women) and traditional leaders in the fight against the use of immersed latrines; Identification of sites and search for propagules; Organization of days for reforestation; Monitoring and control of the sections is reinforced by monthly follow-ups; Set up of improved stoves in families on a trial basis.

Expected Outcomes

The population is involved in the procedures for site selection of well locations; The people have enough drinking water; The water used during winter is good; Proliferation due to submerged latrines is reduced; Submerged latrines are not frequented as much anymore by the people; The people are very well informed about dangers inherent in the use of immersed latrines ; Young people and leaders of groups are involved in actions to protect species (plants and wildlife).

Output indicators: The meeting is organized; The wells are sunk; Disinfection campaigns are organized; The latrines are built; The advocacy day is organized; 10ha of mangroves are planted; 125 improved stoves are available.
