Description

The aim of the project is to prevent pollution of the Senegal River from the system of sewage disposal. Like most cities in Mauritiania, rosso city faces the problem of littered plastic bags. Thanks to the winds and pipeline system in the city these bags end their journey at the river Senegal which in turn sustains this pollution. Thus, to counter this phenomenon, the NGO network Alpha Medical, in collaboration with the SGP programme, is to establish a system of recycling these bags. This recycling will be targeted at schools and health centers in the town of Rosso. YSTEM inpsire is a previously successful experiment in Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) in the city of Abidjan. In addition to its environmental component, the project will contribute to income generation for groups who are responsible for collecting the bags and their cleanup.
