Background & Experience

Mr. Hansin Dogan was born on May 7, 1970 in Turkey. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ankara University in Turkey in 1993. He took MBA courses at Bilkent University in Turkey in 1998 and received his master’s degree in 1999 from Exeter University in England in the field of European studies granted by the Jean Monnet scholarship.

After a short term private sector experience at the subsidiary of Compaq Inc. in Turkey between 1993 and 1994, Mr. Dogan was established on the staff of the Political Sciences Faculty of Ankara University as an expert researcher and at the same time appointed the secretary general of the Human Rights Center at that university in 1995. During his six year engagement with the academia he has carried out research, conducted trainings, issued a bi-monthly Human Rights Journal, published several articles and books and also provided consultancy to several institutions including Turkish Under-secretariat of Treasury, GTZ, American Embassy in Turkey, Fulbright Commission, and the Middle East and Turkey Public Administration Institute.

Mr. Dogan has started his career at the United Nations Development Programme Turkey Office as a Programme Associate in 2001 and been responsible for Governance, GEF/Environment and ICT for Development portfolios. He has also been responsible for providing coordination support to UN System in Turkey during emergency response operations at the aftermaths of earthquakes and during armed conflicts including the war in Iraq in 2003. Between 2003 and 2004, he has served as the Chair of the UNDP/UNOPS/UNFPA Staff Association for two consecutive terms.

Assuming his new duties as of November 2005, Mr. Hansin Dogan is now serving as the Programme Manager, being responsible for UNDP’s private sector interventions in Turkey, and administrates the private sector office in Istanbul. The office under his management has achieved establishing a rapidly growing portfolio of public private partnerships with several multi-national and local companies and been instrumental in advancing the implementation of the UN Global Compact in Turkey.
