The IWRM-Net project is an EU funded eranet bringing together the research funders across Europe interested in Integrated Water Resource Management. THe implementation of the Water Framework Dominates the priorities for many countries but was are also trying to be wider in our scope that this.
The partners have launched their 2nd research call : with funding from France, Germany, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Italy. (NL and SE also under specific regulations) - http://www.iwrm-net.eu/spip.php?rubrique43
Other work includes Developing a research ’agenda’and this is where we hope to provide information for the water-wiki and use the wiki platform as a means of widening debate on what is of priority and perhaps give links to answers. IWRM-net is looking to build its network of interested research scientists and funders to engage in investigating short, medium and long term research needs along with developing a ’foresight’ programme for water. This work will inform the development of future collaborations between partners and help to bring people together in areas of interest. Latest developments include liaison with the Water supply and sanitation technology platform (WSSTP). This linking across Europe provides a network for not only funders but also scientists and policy makers who are interested in the process of developing knowledge and improving research on water management in Europe.
IWRM-net is also working to share its database of research programmes and projects with other similar eranets. THe project is also working with JRC and the NETWATCH project to find means of mutual support for improving the European Research Area with information technology.
