Mission/Mandate

The Hydrometeorological Institute (HMI), Albania, was founded in 1962 ( with the resolution of the Government Nr.172, date 14 May 1962 ), replacing the Hydrometeorological Service that had been created in 1949. Actually, HMI is under the Academy of Sciences of Albania.

The HMI is a research institute, responsible for the collection , processing and analysis of all meteorological and hydrological data. Its tasks includes reports and studies in the field of meteorology, hydrology and environment. The HMI provides the governmental and public administration , the weather sensitive branches of economy and the society with the hydrometeorological information and studies.
