Description
The overall objective of the project is to improve the solid waste management sector and to enhance management capacities in the two solid waste management councils in two major municipalities namely, Gaza and Rafah. The project will be generating emergency employment opportunities for unemployed workers in the Gaza Strip (nearly 209,000 workdays were being generated).
The Project aims at supporting and developing the solid waste management system covering all of the Gaza Strip while responding to the high unemployment rate there. The project targeted two solid waste management council's; one is responsible for the northern governorate and the second in the middle and Khan Youns governorates in addition to, Gaza and Rafah municipalities. More than 1,400,000 of Gaza Strip residents benefited from such a project, which has also improved, to a large extent, the most critical sanitation aspects for Gaza Strip residents. The project has generated 209,000 workdays for poor unemployed workers throughout the Gaza Strip.
