The AQUAkNOW is a dynamic virtual space for collaboration and information sharing designed specifically for the stakeholders of the water sector. Tools included give to the users powerful means to share documents, data, information, ideas, experiences, and/or to find help and work with other stakeholders involved in the WATER sector.

Objectives The platform aims at organizing knowledge and tools available online building at the same time around this knowledge a thematic community to facilitate capacity development, information and data exchanges in a simpler manner. The underlying philosophy, as for wiki, is that the owner of the information or knowledge is able to put it online through simple procedures, to comment other contents and therefore ,enhance the general knowledge.

The website The AquaKnow platform organises itself around two workings axes:

•Classifying the information available The general approach retained is to classify the information available through thematic indexes combined with customized search engines both internal and external within the following sections: News, events and the library storing in various formats documents or links; the capacity building section providing users with an inventory of trainings, workshops, seminars and methodological tools; the tools and data section, displaying links or directly various databases and supporting tools for the water sector. Complying with the philosophy of the website, these indexes are user fed and thus directly updated by the aquaknow members. The thematic sections point out the existing information, data or tools, without duplication however hosting capabilities are offered to make data available and accessible online if necessary.

Building a community It includes various interactive and user friendly tools and allows building communities to capture the informal knowledge issued from single users improving exchanges. The working group are specific space freely available in order to facilitate collaborative work.
