Description
Shrimp fishery gear is used as a bottom trawling network of with low selectivity, which generates the bycatch of other species. In some cases, the catch of species becomes greater than the capture of the target species to be a global problem and generating a negative impact on the populations of these species being considered a threat to marine biodiversity. The objective of this project is to reduce the impact of the shrimp fishery (Pleoticus muelleri) on the by-catch, through the design, construction and installation of a device Excluder juvenile fish in fishing nets of a local fishing community handmade Punta del Diablo, department of Rocha, Uruguay.
