Description
Saray Municipality is situated in the Çubuk Plateau, next to Ankara, total of 15,000 inhabitants. The main supply pipe of the Saray Municipality is 25 years old and in disrepair. Due to its old age and fragile structure, the pipe fractures and leaks frequently, leaving residents without water and increasing the possibility of contamination. The residents’ access to clean water can only be through drinking fountains and water resevoirs. Due to the limited budget of the municipality there are currently no plans to replace the pipeline.
Water Supply and Usage Improvement Project, is designed to make necessary technical improvements including replacement of the ageing pipes with a food grade ductile pipe.
The project involves emergency water pipe rehabilitation and capacity building / awarensss campaign in the targeted communities in the Saray area.
