Description

Project members are farmers and fishermen. Their livelihoods are threatened by changing patterns of land use, and poor waste management. Major stakeholders include:

• The Department of Environment Quality Promotion
• Khonkaen Provincial Administrative Organization
• Tambol Administrative Organizations in project location
• Office of Khonkaen Provincial Natural Resources and Environment

Planned activities:

1. Conduct capacity-building for community leaders
2. Compile resource inventories for the community, and local ecosystem
3. Promote conservation and rehabilitation activities; strengthen CBOs’ ability to contribute to these activities

Anticipated project outputs:

1. Civil organizations are formed to carry out rehabilitation and conservation activities, and oversee committees at a tambol level
2. 160 ha of forested area and two fisheries designated ‘conservation zones’
3. Land-based pollutants reduced 50%
4. 50% increase in number of families practicing integrated farming
